While recently chatting all things Codeable, Mike Andreasen told me when he’s at his best work, he only cares about one thing – speed. A long-time developer, and current Canadian resident, Mike makes it his business to ensure that your website is performing optimally.
If you’re not familiar already, Codeable is an outsourcing platform catering exclusively to WordPress development projects. Their mission is simple: to connect the world’s best freelance WordPress developers with clients and deliver quality without question.
Joining the creme-de-la-creme of WordPress developers on Codeable is no easy task.
In fact, only 2% of WordPress developers who apply to Codeable are accepted to the platform.
Mike made the cut.
He joined the platform and completed his first Codeable project back in November 2016.
To date, Mike has completed more than 1,450 WordPress development projects all while maintaining a perfect, five-star rating.
Mike primarily focuses on WordPress performance optimization and performance-related troubleshooting projects where the end goals are increasing revenue and visitor retention.
However, eliminating the stress and frustrations that stem from un-optomized websites isn’t the sole reason he’s found such success via Codeable.
Part of his success is also due to his exceptional customer service skills and his innate ability to manage expectations from start to finish.
Additionally, Mike gives back to the WordPress community through his performance optimization tutorials on WP Bullet. Head on over there to find tips, learning guides and plugin recommendations that’ll help you maximize your website’s performance.
If you’re having performance issues with your website, and you’re still searching for someone who’s truly serious about speed, hire Mike… He’s who you’ve been looking for all along.
But hey, don’t just take my word for it – Hear from Mike in our interview below, or you can read reviews from his clients and browse his portfolio here.
1. For anyone who isn’t already familiar with Codeable, could you describe Codeable to them?
Codeable is a place where anyone with a WordPress or development issue can post a project and find world class experts who can help them solve their problems.
2. How has Codeable impacted your career as a freelance WordPress developer? Is working for Codeable any different than your previous jobs as a developer and if so, how?
Codeable has truly enriched my life both personally and professionally.
Before, I worked on my own, freelancing and mainly finding clients through referrals or Facebook. Since I joined Codeable, I get to be part of this awesome community of really friendly and fun experts and clients. It allows me a ton of freedom and flexibility in the way that I work.
3. Do you have a favorite memory, or favorite client, from Codeable? If so, could you tell us more about what set that experience apart from all the rest.
My favorite memory is definitely of a client who came to me because his site was super slow and he kept upgrading his server to “fix” the WordPress speed problem – he had reached the maximum server size!
I was privileged to help him get to the bottom of the problem. It turned out he had significant server and database problems which needed a few days of troubleshooting and fixing.
The result was absolutely staggering! We managed to save him $500 a month on hosting costs after these changes and increased his website speed 10-fold. It was absolute magic and it highlights the benefits of doing a thorough, performance audit for your site.
4. What are your favorite types of projects to work on via Codeable? If you could pick your perfect project, what (or who) would it be?
Performance troubleshooting projects are my favorite by far.
These are my favorite because I get to help eliminate a huge amount of stress and frustration for site and store owners by making whatever action was taking 30+ seconds to process take just a couple of seconds.
This also makes the visitors very happy too.
We often find that these troubleshooting projects help increase revenue or visitor retention significantly so they pay for themselves quite quickly. This is incredibly satisfying all around and truly fulfills me every time I have the pleasure of doing this for my clients.
5. For anyone who is considering joining Codeable, what advice would you have to share with them to convince them to join?
I would say make sure you always put the client first with everything that you do and make sure you know how to communicate clearly to different types of people.
This includes managing expectations so you do not get yourself into a pickle. It is mainly on you to make it clear to your clients what to expect as they go through the project with you.
6. Some people think we’re “just” robots, but developers are human too… When you’re not writing code for your clients, what do you like to do with your free time?
I love to eat yummy food so you can often find me researching recipes or restaurants to try.
I also like to travel and be active so I’m always looking for new places to visit and nature to explore
7. Is there anything else you’d like to share with us about your time on Codeable so far?
The power of community and bringing the right type of people together is absolutely magical. The possibilities are endless and it really is one of the most amazing experiences to be a part of and grow with both personally and professionally.
I wish there were more places like Codeable on earth and the internet 🙂
